Yesterday at the climate talks in Marrakech, Morrocco, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) participated in the first Low-Emissions Solutions Conference (LESC) hosted on 14 – 16 November, 2016. The 3-day event, which focused on the role of technologies and innovation to create low carbon solutions, brought some 500 experts and leaders across business, engineering and tech sectors to discuss efforts that can also help countries meet their voluntary climate commitments (or Nationally Determined Contributions) under the Paris Agreement.
As part of SDSN’s focus to mobilize scientific and technical expertise on the sustainable development goals (SDGs), the UN initiative launched by Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, engaged in discussions on energy efficiency and the value of creating deep decarbonization pathways at the local and national level.
Youth entrepreneurship was also highlighted at the LESC with an inspiring presentation by SDSN Youth and featured solution, Liter of Light, on how to engage young people in the SDGs.
